Handmade on the lathe from Rippled Sycamore which came to us from East Sussex. Once turned this bowl has undergone the ancient Japanese technique of Yakisugi where a 2000 degree flame was used to instantly char the surface. An abrasive was then used to remove the thin layer of loose charcoal and the process started again. After the second charring, the surface was treated with a food-safe hard-wearing blend natural of oils and waxes and underwent our innovative polishing process leaving it silky smooth and highly touchable! The underside of this platter is also charred and contains the Bird and Branch logo at its centre.
