Hand-turned from a single piece of English Patterned Beech, this pillow is a sculptural object in its own right that can also be used as a considered spot to rest a small item of importance.

Its been 10 years since we first released our Signature Pillow and to celebrate we have made a special collection of 20 pieces based on the original shape. The Pillow shape was developed to capture and formalise the organic grain patterns of stunning timbers. As well as being beautiful in their own right, the flowing curves are designed to be a canvas to display the grain itself.

To produce this unique material fallen Beech trees are left on their sides for between 3-5 years and during this time the patterns are formed by fungi as they break the log down. Different woodlands contain different species each with their own pattern and colour fingerprints. We are lucky enough to know someone with a woodland that produces very rare, world class examples of this natural artwork.

Once the wood is milled and dried the fungi dies off and beautiful results are locked in place waiting to be revealed by our chisels. Between the time in the woodland and then air drying it can be 6-8 years after the tree came down before we get our hands on this material and our challenge is to make sure that we do it justice and turn something truly beautiful from it.

• Food safe but recommended for dry use

• Care - Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Re-oil periodically to maintain the finish. Avoid prolonged contact with water and don't put in the dishwasher.
