Its been 10 years since we first released our Signature Pillow and to celebrate we have made a special collection of 20 pieces based on the original shape.

This one is a deep mini version, hand-turned from a single piece of English Ash and finished in our charred Yakisugi style. Yakisugi is a traditional Japanese technique that darkens and textures the surface of the wood. A 2000 degree flame was used to instantly char the surface then abrasive was used to remove the thin layer of loose charcoal and the process started again. After the second charring a food-safe hard-wearing blend natural of oils and waxes was used to seal it.

The Pillow shape was developed to capture and formalise the organic grain patterns of stunning timbers. As well as being beautiful in their own right, the flowing curves are designed to be a canvas to display the grain itself. This pillow is a sculptural object but can also be used as a considered spot to rest a small item of importance and due to the food safe finish, perhaps even used at the table.

• Care - Wipe clean with a damp cloth. Re-oil periodically to maintain the finish. Avoid prolonged contact with water and don't put in the dishwasher
